Amy Patrick’s New Cover!

Hey Readers,

I’ve got a special treat for you today. I hope you’ll join me in welcoming Author Amy Patrick, here with the cover reveal for HIDDEN DEEP, (Book 1 of the Hidden Trilogy), a YA fantasy/paranormal series due out March 23, 2015.

I don’t do this kind of thing often, but I love a unique book cover, and it’s so much fun getting excited about a new trilogy. This one sounds like a great start to the series!

Here’s the summary of HIDDEN DEEP from Goodreads:

Give in to the Glamour…

Sixteen-year-old Ryann Carroll has just run into the guy who saved her life ten years ago. You might think she’d be happy to see him again. Not exactly. She’s a bit underdressed (as in skinny-dipping) and he’s not supposed to exist.

After her father’s affair, all Ryann wants is to escape the family implosion fallout and find a little peace. She also wouldn’t mind a first date that didn’t suck, but she’s determined not to end up like her mom: vulnerable, betrayed, destroyed. Ryann’s recently moved back to her childhood home in rural Mississippi, the same place where ten years earlier she became lost in the woods overnight and nearly died.

She’s still irresistibly drawn to those woods. There she encounters the boy who kept her from freezing to death that long ago winter night and was nowhere to be seen when rescuers arrived. He’s still mysterious, but now all grown-up and gorgeous, too. And the more she’s with him, the greater the threat he poses to Ryann’s strict policy– never want someone more than he wants you.

Seventeen-year-old Lad knows the law of his people all too well: Don’t get careless and Don’t get caught. It’s allowed his race to live undetected in this world for thousands of years, mentioned only in flawed and fading folklore…

Lad’s never been able to forget about Ryann since that night ten years ago. When he sees her again, his fascination re-ignites and becomes a growing desire that tempts him to break all the rules. He’s not even supposed to talk to a human, much less fall in love with one.

And the timing is atrocious. The Assemblage is coming, the rift between the Light and Dark is widening, and mysterious celebrity fan pods are becoming more and more widespread and influential. Lad may have to trade his own chance at happiness to keep the humans, especially Ryann, blissfully unaware and safe.

Doesn’t that sound awesome? I’m already intrigued!

Click on the Goodreads icon above to add it to your TBR list. I have a feeling, you won’t be dissappointed.

So, now, without further delay…

In The Spirit of Giving

I hope your New Year is off to a good start. I bet you’re already plotting and planning some exciting adventures for the coming months. Me, I like to keep the spirit of giving at the forefront a little longer. Once the holidays are over, it’s so tempting to jump into what comes next and forget about the wonderful time we just spent with family and friends. Our regimented thinking goes straight to work on January 1st, insisting that we get those taxes done, set our goals for 2015, and forge on with a new production schedule, marketing plan, or weight loss program. No more sitting around eating pumpkin pie, drinking eggnog, reading all those freebies we just downloaded onto our new Kindles, and watching football…or Outlander marathons in my case.

I’m all for seizing the day and plunging into new projects, but what if we kept hold of our charitable natures a bit longer? Are we really supposed to focus on work all year, just to celebrate and enjoy our family and friends for a few weeks in November and December? We have Thanksgiving to help us remember to be grateful for all the blessings in our lives, and then Christmas to spread the love and charity that comes with the Spirit of Giving. So what happens to us the rest of the year? Are we going to let the struggle to survive, the drive to succeed, or the increasing disconnect from humanity through digital-age living, dictate the other ten months? Why do we let our “busy-ness” get in the way of taking time to catch up with a friend or doing something nice for a stranger?

I’ve seen myself get sucked into this trap in the past. I’m a goal-setter by nature and a bit addicted to checking off my to-do lists. It probably doesn’t help that both in my writer’s life and my massage therapy practice, I spend a LOT of time in my own head. (Fortunately, I like myself well enough and have learned to put the meandering thoughts to good use for the most part.) Whether you prefer isolation–like me–or the hustle and bustle of chaos around you, the danger comes in the inherent self-absorption that happens when we let ourselves be swept along on the tidal wave of distractions and to-do’s, and forget to look outward at the people passing us by.

To ground myself in what is truly important to me–which is to share love, spread kindness, and promote peace on a daily basis–I need to keep the Spirit of Giving alive. There are so many ways to give back and make a difference in the world–to be a positive influencer, or as I’ve heard it said, be part of the solution and not part of the problem. Volunteerism, charity work, or even making a conscious choice to engage in random acts of kindness every single day. If everyone on the planet did this, think about how different the world would be. I can guarantee that greed and selfishness wouldn’t be the epidemic it is today. Check out this Youtube video that perfectly illustrates my point.

Enough on my soap box! I’m coming down to practice what I preach.

PJSharon_WesternDesert_800

I had such a great response to my FREE run with WANING MOON last month, I figured readers who downloaded it might be ready for the second installment of Lily and Will’s adventure. I know of a few new reviewers who were looking forward to seeing where the romance is going.

So this week I’ll be giving away WESTERN DESERT, Book Two in the Chronicles of Lily Carmichael Trilogy. The e-book will be available to download for FREE  at Amazon from January 15 to the 19th. Feel free to share this post with friends!

In addition to giving away more books this year, I’ll also be working on a non-fiction project sure to be a big help to readers and writers alike–two of my favorite groups of humans. The book, slated for later this spring or early summer, will be full of tips for ergonomics (the study of work-related biomechanics and proper setup for workstations) and self-care. I’ll give practical solutions for preventing and treating the problems that arise with a sedentary lifestyle. Today, most of us fall into the category of writers, readers, students, desk jockeys or couch potatoes. We fight to stay fit, but the digital age is winning in the battle for maintaining a balanced, healthy lifestyle. This isn’t a new problem, but it is one that’s worsening every day.

From my many years in the Physical Therapy profession, as well as from my private practice as  a massage therapist, personal trainer, and yoga instructor, I’ve seen musculoskeletal issues, obesity, and a general deterioration in the health of sedentary individuals grow to epidemic proportions. But since I can only treat so many people in a day, this is my way of expanding my reach to help educate and heal the masses.

I’ll have more information on this topic over the next few months. In the meantime, if you have any questions related to ergonomics or self care, or you need tips for correcting/treating a problem, let me know in the comments below. I’ll do my best to answer them. I’m always happy to spread the love!

Peace and blessings,

PJ

Happy New Year!

Hello friends and readers!

I can’t believe we’re coming into another new year. It seems like 2015 was on a distant horizon not long ago. I remember thinking as a teenager how futuristic that date sounded and half expected cars to be flying by now. Although I’m a little disappointed that we aren’t zipping around the skies like the Jetsons, technology certainly has come a long way. I never imagined my phone would be like a computer or that I’d be reading books on an electronic device, able to download hundreds and have an entire library at my fingertips any time. Or that I’d be able to publish my own stories!

Indie publishing has been a wild ride for me, fraught with plenty of ups and downs over the past three years. As technology grows and more and more people enter the arena of self-publishing, this business becomes increasingly difficult. Sales have dropped dramatically this past year for many of us–both traditionally published and indie–due to the overwhelming number of new books coming to the market. New technologies vying for consumer attention continue to change the landscape of how we spend our time, focus our attentions, and what we read every day.

I’m honored that among the millions of books now available to readers, that anyone would choose one of mine to add to their library of books, whether it be to their Kindle, Nook, iPad, or home book shelf. THANK YOU for your support, your encouragement through your wonderful reviews, and for making my dream of sharing my stories come true!

As is my nature, regardless of the trials, I’m looking forward to exciting new adventures in 2015. I even have a non-fiction project already in the works for the first quarter of the year.

As a massage therapist, personal trainer, and yoga instructor, I’m especially attuned to the fact that the technological changes in our world are having an astounding effect on our human bodies. I go to writer’s conferences and workshops, and see the chronic pain and debilitating health issues facing people who spend hours a day at their computers. My cohorts will  tell you that my hands seem to find their way to the necks and tight shoulders of attendees at random. I can’t help myself! I hate to see people in pain when I can do something about it. I often dole out advice on exercise or lifestyle changes that might help lessen their suffering, but I wanted to do more…to reach more people in need. Thus, the idea was born!

SELF CARE and ERGONOMICS for WRITERS  will be a practical guide to proper workstation set up, preventative exercises, and self-care tips to ensure longevity in your writing career. But this won’t be for writers only. Students, avid readers, corporate desk jockeys, and couch potatoes of all kinds will hopefully benefit. Since I–and my hands–can’t be everywhere, this book will be the next best thing. I’ll keep you up to date on my progress.

PJSharon_HealingWaters_HRNo worries for those of you who need a fiction fix! I do have several ideas for new book projects as well, but haven’t nailed down a production schedule just yet. I’ll be sure to let you know what’s coming up.

In the meantime, I hope you’re enjoying my latest release, HEALING WATERS, the third and final book in the Chronicles of Lily Carmichael Trilogy. I’ll miss Lily and Will and those rambunctious wolves, Bo and Pappy, but I’m also excited to hear about how you liked the way the journey ended. Your feedback and reviews are always welcome. Although the trilogy is currently only available at Amazon, I’ll be expanding my distribution of WANING MOON and WESTERN DESERT to Nook, Kobo, and iBooks later this month, and HEALING WATERS will follow in March.

Also, if you’ve missed any of my contemporary YA novels, I’ve bundled them into one box set for you, and included a Christmas novella to boot! The GIRLS of THOMPSON LAKE Box Set includes HEAVEN is for HEROES, ON THIN ICE, and PIECES of LOVE, along with SAMI’s CHRISTMAS WISH LIST, a novella that brings all the characters from the three books together in one heartwarming holiday story. I hope you’ll pick it up or gift a copy to a friend. You can read the first chapter of the novella on Wattpad

I hear time and again from readers that these stories are not only for teens, but that anyone who enjoys a sweet romance or family drama will love them. If you like Hallmark or Lifetime movies, or enjoy Nicholas Sparks novels, these books are for you! Three full length novels and a novella for only $3.99! How can you go wrong?PJSharon_TheGirlsOfThompsonLake3DBoxSet_200px

So that’s what I’ll be up to for January! Setting up my production schedule, reworking my marketing plan, and deciding which new projects get top priority. It’s going to be another busy year, but I’m looking forward to connecting with new readers, spending time with family and friends, and writing, writing, writing!

What fun things do you have planned for this year?

Wherever your travels take you, don’t forget to bring along a good book you can sink your teeth into. Eating a good book

Peace and blessings to you all in 2015!

On to a FEW of MY FAVORITE THINGS:

Favorite Christmas song: Mary, Did You Know? Check out this version by the Pentatonix.  It will blow you away!

Favorite Holiday cookies: KletsKoppen, a Dutch cookie made with butter, brown sugar, and almonds…oh, and did I say butter? Seriously, the BEST! Leave your email address in the comments if you want the recipe.

Favorite Holiday movie: Duh! THE HOLIDAY with Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jack Black, and Jude Law. Plus, too many classics to choose from. But these days, Hallmark has my  holiday viewing totally wrapped up.

Favorite Line from a Holiday movie: “Every woman should be the heroine of her own life.” Kate Winslet in THE HOLIDAY.

Favorite Holiday tradition: When my kids were little, I hung an advent calendar on the wall, and every day, we would take turns doing something nice for someone. It was a lovely way to celebrate the reason for the season and taught them that the best gifts were from the heart.

Favorite Holiday craft project: Making wreaths! I love hiking through the woods on a crisp December day, collecting Princess Pine (which I clip rather than pulling out by the root), and then sitting down to make a beautiful wreath. It’s like decorating a mini tree! When I was a kid, we used to make dozens of them and sell them at my uncle’s nursery to earn money for Christmas presents. Ah, humble beginnings…

And last but not least, my Favorite Holiday drink (cuz what’s a Holiday without a little Holiday cheer?): Bailey’s Irish Cream and Eggnog-YUM!

From my house to yours, have a blessed Holiday season, and a happy, healthy New Year!

Peace,

PJ

Healing Waters available for Pre-order!

Hey gang,

House Nov. 2014Fall is inherently a time for change. My darling hubby has been working hard to get new , siding, and windows, and a new metal roof onto the back section of the house. We think this part of the house was added on in 1898. Time for an upgrade, right? In the meantime, I’m storing summertime items–garden implements, potted plants, and rain barrels. I enjoy being all stocked up with pellets for the pellet stove, switching out the shoes on the vehicles, and filling the pantry. (I’m also saving up my calories for the no doubt, amazing Thanksgiving dinner.) But no worries, this doesn’t mean I’ll be hibernating.

December proves to be a super busy month!

I’m happy to announce:

HEALING WATERS, (Book 3 in the Chronicles of Lily Carmichael trilogy) is now available for Pre-order on Amazon  and is set for release December 23, 2014!

PJSharon_HealingWaters_200Healing Waters, Book Three in the Chronicles of Lily Carmichael trilogy picks up with sixteen-year-old genetically enhanced Lily Carmichael and friends in the midst of a daring escape from Las Vegas. In this final installment, Lily faces her ultimate challenge.

After a failed rescue attempt, and no home to return to, Lily and Will reunite to join with her uncle and his Network of rebels, taking on Vice President Malevich and his army of agents, drones, and Guardians. With Malevich systematically enslaving the city-dwellers who depend on the New Government for their survival—he’s made it clear he will eliminate anyone who stands in his way.

Leading the rebellion while staying one step ahead of the Industry takes Lily, Will, and their friends on a harrowing journey from the desert southwest to the new Capitol in Chicago, where they’ll face a fight to the death. But Lily’s greatest gift—her driving instinct to heal and protect—may also be her greatest enemy. As Lily’s abilities grow, can she do what it takes to save humanity, while taking down the madman bent on destroying it?

I’m giving away three signed ARCs on Goodreads! Giveaway runs from 11/13-12/15.

COVER REVEAL and a .99 cent Sale!

As the beautiful fall foliage passes, I’m reminded of nature’s incredible palette of colors. The warm earth tones and vibrant yellow, orange and red, make a splash against the blue of the autumn sky over the Berkshire hills. The tapestry of color makes my ride to work a pleasant time of contemplation and appreciation. So, when Kim Killion re-designed my covers for the Chronicles of Lily Carmichael trilogy, I had no idea she would invoke the same magic using these familiar vibrant colors to make my books stand out. I’d decided to re-brand my covers in an effort to give them a fresh look before HEALING WATERS, the third book in the trilogy comes out in December. I’m so glad I did.

Harvest Time and New Faces

Happy Harvesting all,

fall scape 2013I love this time of year! The air is crisp, the sun is warm, and farmers are scrambling to pick the last of the veggies. Canning and jarring for the winter has commenced. Now it’s time to pick those pumpkins and gather the corn stalks. I love the smell of dry leaves, the herby scent of drying perennials, and how the hydrangea turn that lovely crimson-rose color. It seems all of nature is in the mood for a change of pace and gearing up to hibernate for the winter. The fall colors are in full show this week up in the Berkshires–just in time for our annual Granville Harvest Fair.

phone pics 279 (2013_06_07 00_53_00 UTC)If you live in New England and have never been, it’s a wonderful little town gathering that hosts hundreds of vendors, sharing their crafts and offering the best of all things country living. There’s face painting for the kids, apple pie with Granville’s famous cheddar cheese, and no shortage of unique gift ideas for Christmas. Visit the old Drum Factory or check out the amazing array of quilts and pottery up at the Old Town Hall across from the apple orchard on the hill.

And yes, I’ll be signing books all weekend (Saturday 10-5, Sunday 12-5, and Monday, 10-5). You’ll find me across from the General Store, situated near the entrance to the library, where there will also be a discount book sale in the basement if YA isn’t your thing but you’re looking to stock up on some good reads for winter. Be sure to stop by and say hi!

For those of you waiting patiently for book three in the Chronicles of Lily Carmichael trilogy, I’ve just finished the first draft and am diving into revisions. If all goes well with the editing process, HEALING WATERS will be available by Christmas. Woot!

I’m also working on a novella called SAMI’S CHRISTMAS WISH LIST, which will be part of a box set that will include HEAVEN IS FOR HEROES, ON THIN ICE, and PIECES OF LOVE–a wonderful gift for any lover of sweet romance and family drama. Stay tuned for a release date.

Since the characters all hail from the fictitious CT lake town of Somerville, where residing on Thompson Lake is like Pretty Little Liars climbing into a Norman Rockwell painting, the box set will be aptly named, THE GIRLS FROM THOMPSON LAKE. Sami is the trouble-making friend who plays a role in all three books but hasn’t had her own story yet. If you’ve enjoyed my other contemporary YA romances, you’ll love this heartwarming Christmas novella that joins the main characters from the other books into one sweet holiday read.

And if you haven’t signed up for my newsletter, do it now to receive sneak peeks, release dates, and extras as soon as they become available.

Another exciting event this month is not one cover reveal, but four! Yes, I’ve freshened up my Lily Carmichael trilogy and Lily has a whole new face. Well…not really a whole new face. I’ve kept the same stock photo of Lily, but the cover art has gone through a beautiful, Kim Killion (of the Killion Group), transformation. She did an amazing job and I can’t wait to share the final covers with you, including the cover for HEALING WATERS. Since I love savoring the moment and building a bit of buzz around big news like this, I’ll be posting the new covers to my FB page, one a week, beginning Friday, October 10th. The final cover reveal for HEALING WATERS (my favorite of all of them) will happen on All Hallows Eve! October 31st.

If you’re not yet following me on Facebook, what are you waiting for? Stop over now and give my PJ Sharon Books page a “like” so you’ll see the updated covers as soon as they’re posted. Of course, you can always wait until next month and see them right here on my website when I’ve updated and added them to the new Chronicles of Lily Carmichael page, where, along with the new covers, you’ll find excerpts, reviews, playlists, and more. Make sure you subscribe to this blog over in the right hand sidebar so you can come back and check it out. (I generally only post to this blog once a month unless I have a promotion going on. Newsletters come out quarterly or if I have a new release to announce.)

In the meantime, I hope you’re getting outside to enjoy the refreshing fall weather and if you’re free this Columbus Day weekend, stop by and see me at the Granville Harvest Fair in Granville, MA. Mention you found me here on my website and receive a FREE download of WANING MOON, book one in the Chronicles of Lily Carmichael trilogy.

Peace and Blessings,

PJ
