One week until Release Day!

Six Week Countdown

Hello Readers,

A big thank you to those who dropped by the Book Lovers Buffet Facebook Party. It seemed a good time was had by all, and it gave me some awesome ideas for the release of PIECES of LOVE next month. That’s right…only six weeks left until the release of my next contemporary YA romance.PJSharon_PiecesOfLove_800px

For indie authors, that final six weeks is a frenetic whirlwind of to-do’s. In case you’re interested, this is what still has to be done:

1) Complete final proof (this entails a second printing of proof copies to make sure every detail is as it should be–including cover, blurb, and as close to perfect as possible interior).

2) Send out review copies to reviewers (I’d love to hand this off to a personal assistant since it entails about two eight hour days consisting of busy work like filling out each review sites forms and meeting their individual submission requirements–a tedious and necessary evil).

3) Complete book trailer (hubby is helping out with this and hopefully, it’ll be done this week!)

4) Compile blog posts for my blog tour.

5) Update website–in process.

6) Create and order bookmarks, swag, and other giveaway items.

7) Send finished manuscript to formatter. ( Previously, I’ve done my own formatting, but because I’m adding the theme song to the e-book, this one will be a bit tricky, so I’m seeking help from a pro, Amy Atwell of Author EMS, who is a gem to work with).

8) Prepare for launch day, including wrangling a few celebrity guests to appear. (Party time!)

9) Order final print copies and upload to retailers.

10) Update all of my social media sites, author pages, and promotional venues with book info and buy links.

11) Take a vacation! Already in the works is a long overdue visit to my son in California. So looking forward to hanging out with my boy and taking a ten day road trip up the Pacific coastline with my wonderful husband.

As you can see, it’s going to be a very busy six weeks. But no worries, I’ll continue to write my thousand words or so a day on book three of the Chronicles of Lily Carmichael trilogy to stay on target with my schedule for a fall release and poke my head out of my writer’s cave to do some giveaways over on my Facebook PJ Sharon Books page. Spending May Day with friends

The excitement has been building for months, and I can finally share two pieces of my PIECES of LOVE  project. Of course, the launch for the actual book won’t take place until June 21st, but for today, I’m happy to share my lovely cover with you.

Didn’t Kim Killion and the folks over at the Killion Group do a fabulous job? I’m very happy with the final result. I love to hear from you all about what you like and yes, even what you don’t, so feel free to leave an honest comment below. I truly appreciate any and all feedback. It’s the only way we as authors can improve our products, and my goal is to deliver the best reading experience I can for my readers. That includes a stunning cover that evokes emotion, reflects the tone of the genre and story, and gives readers a glimpse of what they’ll find when they open the book and step into the world I’ve created for my characters.

But that’s not all!

Last month I was working in the recording studio on a theme song for the story and promised you an update this month. It took some work (mostly fun work!), but the project is complete and now available on multiple music venues.

For now, here’s the link for a .99 cent download on i-Tunes, where you’ can listen to a sample, rate it, and purchase the song for your iPod, android or Smart phone. Yes, that is my voice, and yes, I did write the song, but I owe a huge thank you to my pal Ozone Pete who helped put it all together on the guitar, and Jim Fogarty from Zing Studios who produced the project. That’s Jim on piano. These guys did an amazing job of making me sound good, LOL.

In the midst of the ten hours we spent together in the studio, I knew it was lunch time when Jim started singing “Pizza’s of love, pizza’s of looove…” Between that and his impromptu Three Stooges video breaks, he had me cracking up, and he and Pete made the whole experience a pleasure.

Next up, my husband and I will be working on the book trailer which will feature part of the song. I’m hoping to have that done next month. Proof copies of the book are on their way, so I and my proofreader can make last minute corrections, then it’s off to final print! My favorite part is getting those final proof copies and knowing that I have a quality product that’s near and dear to my heart to share with readers.

Details and Dates

It’s been a busy first quarter for me, finishing up PIECES OF LOVE and getting it ready for its June 21st release. I know it seems like June is a long way off, but with all the details that have to happen to prepare for a book launch, believe me, it’s right around the corner. I’m currently waiting for feedback from beta readers (readers who will give me feedback about what they liked and what they didn’t so I can make final creative changes to the story before my last round of edits.) Then she’s off to the printer for proofs, out to reviewers, and I’ll be lining up my advertisers.

Oh, and I’m working on writing book three of my Lily Carmichael trilogy, aptly named…are you ready for the title reveal? HEALING WATERS! Hope you like it. The story is coming along swimmingly***ggg*** Couldn’t help myself.

In the meantime, I’ve just received the final version of PIECES OF LOVE, the theme song, completed with the help of my guitar playing buddy Ozone Pete and my friend Jim at ZING studios, and have been getting it uploaded to the various music sites. I’ll let you know when the song is out and available for .99 cent download. Of course if you want to wait and buy the book in June, you’ll have the link to the song right in your e-book! I’m very excited about this project and all the new opportunities to share my story with readers.

Also on the agenda for this month is my big cover reveal for PIECES OF LOVE, which will take place on April 18th. Each week, I’ll post another section of the cover on my Facebook page and then, on Friday, April 18th, I’ll post the complete cover, along with the i-tunes link to the song, and a give away of a few ARCs (advanced reader copies) of the book! So make sure you follow my PJSharonBooks page on Facebook, leave comments to be included in the drawing, and show up on the 18th to see the whole cover!

On April 3rd, I’ll be posting to the Secrets of 7 Scribes blog. I’ve done several interviews on various Romance Writing sites and I love the live interview process. I get to chat about books and romance, and answer reader questions, all while sitting in my jammies and slippers sipping tea. How cool is that? In the Studio…

Hey Readers,

Can you believe how quickly January passed? I’m feeling the time warp thing again. Even so, I’m excited about this month. No, not only because I get to celebrate my birthday in a couple of weeks, but because there is so much happening!

Studio PicFirst up, I’m in a recording studio for the first time ever! My friend and neighbor, Ozone Pete, and I are recording the theme song to PIECES OF LOVE, a contemporary YA novel I plan to publish later this spring. Won’t it be cool to be able to click on a link within the e-book and hear me sing a song I wrote just for the book? Yes, I’m terrified! But I’m very happy with how the project is coming out. I’ll post more about the experience next time and you’ll all be the first to know when the song goes live to my YouTube channel and is available on iTunes. I plan to create a book trailer with the music as well, so once it’s all put together, I’ll have the big reveal right here.

I’m also teaching my very first Self-publishing workshop to writers at the local library in Granby, Ct. on February 13th–which will hopefully be more fun and entertaining than it sounds. I love sharing my experience with others, and helping writers achieve their dreams is both an honor and a privilege.

Since I just handed PIECES OF LOVE off to my editor, I can now devote all of my writing time to the third book in the Chronicles of Lily Carmichael series. Here’s what my latest readers have been saying about the first two books.

Not that I need any more excitement for this month, but my Scribes sisters and I just gave our blog a face lift and are planning some fun new ways to reach out to readers. Lest I forget that all important romance holiday, I’ll be spending Valentine’s Day with my sweet, handsome hubby. I’m not sure what we have planned, but if it’s up to me, we might be attending a couples yoga class…just sayin’ honey!

Welcome 2014!

Happiest of New Years, readers

I trust you all had an awesome holiday and that you’re settling into a new year. I don’t know about you, but I love this time of year. I could do without the sub-zero temps and crazy winter weather, but it’s past the solstice, days are growing longer, and the light is once again taking hold. It’s a time of promise, a time of new beginnings, and a time of expansion and growth.

For me, the new year always brings new challenges. I take time out to reflect on the year before and re-assess what worked and what didn’t in my business plan, marketing plan, writing schedule, promotional efforts, and life in general.

I’m proud of accomplishing my 2013 goal of publishing WESTERN DESERT,WD FINAL Website Use  book two in my Chronicles of Lily Carmichael trilogy, as well as SOUL REDEMPTION, the short story prequel (always FREE on Smashwords or available to read on Wattpad).

I’m also happy to let you all know that WESTERN DESERT is now available for Nook at B&N, and for i-Pad and other e-readers at SMASHWORDS

As for one of my 2014 goals, I’ve recently completed a contemporary YA romance called PIECES OF LOVE, and am in the editing phase as I query agents. I’m attempting to enter into the traditional publishing arena. We’ll see in the next few months what happens with that story. I’ll keep you posted!

In the meantime, I’ll be in the recording studio later this month, recording the PIECES OF LOVE theme song, which will be offered as a link in the e-book–an idea I hope will be unique enough to help my book stand out in the overcrowded YA market.

Since I’m in my editing cave this month, I won’t be spending much time on social media, but please know that I am always here for you, my friends and readers.
